Yea, I definitely won't get my hopes up but any news with a glint of hope behind it is good enough for me at this point. It is believable that EI would be next..

The idea that this news would come from an uncle's friend is about as plausible as anything else. The problem is it's such a horrible cliche on here going back to the Uncle Camerman spoiler. For that matter it's a terrible cliche going all the way back to grade school, for me, when everybody would always claim that their uncle was X, Y or Z and certain kids seemed to have a million uncles, all of whom were really exciting or important for one reason or another. Those kids were obviously full of shit. That doesn't necessarily mean our Exile Island friend is. It just means if he IS telling the truth, the truth is unfortunate until better proven for reasons other than the fact that Exile Island ranks dead last on my season rankings.

That said, leave it to those fuckups at CBS to inexplicably release the worst season of Survivor and one of the ones it's easiest to watch already while ignoring the ones the fans want to see. That part is really plausible to me.

I know of no plans to release any more seasons of these other shows so 6 seasons of Survivor may be all that we get for the time being. Perhaps when Survivor is off the air and there are no new seasons for people to watch, Paramount/CBS will capitalize on the nostalgia factor and release the remaining older seasons. BTW, Amazon.com still has DVD entries for Africa, Marquesas, Thailand, The Amazon and Guatemala but the entries for Panama-EI, Cook Islands and Fiji have been removed. |

Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the similar downward spiral of promotion for each subsequent release as well. I heard this before Palau came out, but I can't imagine that it or Vanuatu were immune to the trend. I'm thinking tullfan's right, maybe they'll revisit the series on DVD once it's over, I guess they think that six seasons is enough to quench our Survivor fix during the offseason. I invested in a dvd recorder and I have the seasons from Guatemala onward on DVD- recorded off CBS and I have all the seasons recorded on shitty VHS. I'd gladly still buy them if they came out as proper sets though. It makes me wish that OLN still replayed the old seasons, so I could record those as well. |
