Posts: 517 03/02/12 11:59 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	In spite of a few qualms, I have few complaints about the Top 10. The WC rounds, OTOH, were a little suspect. I didn't have any problems with the people they put through; they people they chose to SFYL was the issue. Brielle was the main one; I would've like to have seen Hallie, or even Haley given a second chance over that twat. And don't get me started on the abomination known as Reed. If I never hear another Adele song again on the show, it'll be too soon. Stevie and Whitney? In the immortal words of Bart Scott, "CAN'T WAIT!". Except not really. Lastly, the judges have spent the past 10 years telling contestants not to attempt Whitney, and now that the druggie has-been is gone they're okay with devoting a theme night to her? It's going to be open season on those poor girls next week. They are either going to be criticized for imitating, criticized for changing up iconic songs, or criticized for not being good enough to sing her songs. Yeah, I think the girls are going to be in for a rough ride next week. This could be shades of Mariah Carey Night in Season 7 when most of the girls who were criticized no matter what they did.

I know that Baylee Brown was awful in her performance, but I would have liked to seen her get one more shot over Brielle. Maybe it is just because BB is so gosh darn beautiful. I like Erika, but I hope she does something with her look. It was almost painful to watch her in that dress, and her ugo tattoos. ETA - I was shocked that Jen didn't make the top 13. I heard her mother was a pain in the ass last year too hawking her baby daddy's cancer story. I think they intentionally showed the public what narcissistic, phoney, bossy people the Von Hugels are so people wouldn't like them. And I think they gave her that last shot to prove that she doesn't have it and keep Momma Kong from trying to sue them! Cuz that's how she is! They had to get her voted off, so she and Cruella couldn't come back again. Period.

Now for Bottom 5, the first 5 eliminations in seasons 8-10 (places of women only) Season 8: 13th, 11th, 9th Season 9: 12th, 11th, 10th, 8th Season 10: 13th, 12th, 11th, 10th, 9th So 12 out of 15 people getting the first 5 eliminations were female. My question: has anybody officially declared that the vagicide is over? Because most people posting in the rankings list seem to think it is. A bunch of people put Jessica as the winner, while others have put other women to win and/or multiple women in the top 5. Yes, the women are a little better than the guys this year, but the talent gap was far bigger in season 9 and it didn't help. So is there a good reason for this?

That said I think that a female will win again this season because TBTP will do everything in their power to make it happen. I mean anything is possible and the voting demographic hasn't changed so for all I know we will have a 5th male winner. If what I read on IDF earlier is right though that vagacide continues. Apparently "EVERYONE" is going for the males. Can't say I'll be surprised if this turns out to be true. No matter how good the females have been in the past they were still kicked to the curb. The one thing that does give me a little bit of hope though is that a)America voted ALL of the right people into the Top 10.

The way I look at it right now is that America has not warmed up to either DeAndre or Jermaine in any way yet....and to a slightly lesser extent Jeremy as well. People that would generally vote for those types of guys will be voting for Joshua over those 3. Heejun, while has a great personality which will carry him through for a few weeks...will quickly fade off but he will outlast some girls in the meantime....Joshua reminds me a lot of Jacob Lusk...so he will stay for a long time but I see him being cut before the final 3. That leaves Colton and Phillip in which the majority demographic voters are appealed to. The bitches at IDF and MjsBlog and all those other sites are hardcore teenie boopers that have one thing on the brain: dick, Phillip is going to be really hard to get rid of because of people like that....I dont think it even matters that he cant sing a melody, he's in it for the long haul...I just hope last years Haley fans as well as new fans can open their minds to the likes of Erika or Elise that really have star power and are mainstream relevant artists that could be hugely successful....instead of Phillip, who is Lee DeWyze 2.0. The other girls are lacking something that wont get them the win, even though many want Jessica and Hollie to pull through...it wont happen. Colton I think could be fairly easy to get rid of because he isnt that good looking and his voice isnt that great, but he will stick around for awhile. This year seems a lot less likely of a vag suicide than recent years. Season 8 only had 5 girls and Jazmine and Lil sucked, Alexis wasnt that popular, many people didnt connect with Megans tone and Allison didnt really have the "look" or "personality" to pull of a win. Season 9 had fodder like Katie, Lacey and Paige make the finals, a complete breakdown by Didi, Siobhan had some moments but fell off pitchy...and Crystal had no versatility.Season 9 had fodder with Ashton, Karen, Thia and Naima in the top group. Pia was a shocker...which was most likely a ratings boost. Lauren was pimped and not critiqued the whole way through to get her a 2nd place finish and Haley was just plain robbed by people like IDF posters. This year the girls dont really have fodder, the boys have lots. I can see Sklyar, Shannon and Hollie making early exits, Jessica will last halfway, Elise and Erika could be fighting for the same demographic....so Idk vagina slaughter could or could not be over.

And let's be real here, American Idol voters are super racist. The minority guys don't have much of a leg up (demo-wise) than the girls. So I'm sort of deluding myself into thinking the gender divide will be much more even this year than it has the past four.

I have to say that if you are not correct on that prediction, you are very, very close! The same people who remained loyal to voting for Jordan Sparks will vote for Shannon -- and NOT because their fathers were pro-athletes. Both girls are/were wise, wholesome and classy beyond their years. I teach students who are 16 years old, and very few project the dedication, appreciation and focus of those girls. Singing aside, they are both well raised young ladies who can be fine role models for aspiring singers of today. (In NO WAY would I hope that my students would emulate the likes of pushy, self-absorbed Brielle!!) The best singer rarely wins. In fact, the finest musicians will go unnoticed because of their lack of commercial appeal. In all, this list of thirteen doesn't really have anyone who I would predict to be a lasting sensation. Let everyone complain, rudely criticize, vote for the worst, and THEN probably feel better about themselves for acting superior. American Idol is simply a game...and a great way for FOX to bilk millions out of their viewers. I'll keep watching for the sake of watching.
