Kim is getting the Sophie G. Clarke edit. Is anybody else realizing this beautiful symmetry with last year's season? Sophie was never portrayed in a negative light when it came to her strategy. Every edit displayed a calm, confident woman who always had a broader perspective of where the game would take her (although, as I discuss later, was hid from the viewer). This is exactly how Kim has been portrayed. Her quote "time will tell" within the first episode made me about poop myself and then it followed with her winner's confessional where she gave a Sophie-esque like summary of the tribe dynamics in the confident and almost better-than-the-elements-of-the-game-like manner i.e. ("All the women were like "women power," which I'm not really a big fan of, but I'm going with it.") It seems to be the one element in editing that gives the winner away to me. It is the editors ability to show the player with the skill of adaptability. Within the first episode, Sophie says something to the extent of Coach is arrogant and loves to talk about himself, but he is also valuable in this game and I can use him to my benefit. This seems to be the same feel the editors were going with Kim in her first confessional.
There is the one main difference I see that lies in their editing. We were never given an idea about where Sophie was heading and what her thoughts were for down the road. It was always just "sticking with the plan." I think this difference is largely due to the negative comments about Sophie's horrible edit. I had to listen to her brilliant strategy in post-show interview to get a sense about the caliber of player that she was. It could be that Kim experiences the same social dynamics that were present with Sophie, and the editors have chosen to edit Kim in this same manner (since we already know they have a difficult time editing women), but have chosen to give the viewer more insight into her strategy than they did with Sophie in order to create a more memorable and understandable win.
It is also interesting that Sophie has endorsed Kim as her pick for the winner.
