Yes, but we don't know for sure it's combined RC/IC. I agree it's like the log roll, but I don't think the RC is the same. I could be wrong because we haven't seen any shots of an RC in promos. But if it's combined, then the pic of the girls washing off in the ocean makes no sense. If Chelsea/Alicia/Kim's reward is like a cake, then it would make sense, but then how would Troy end up being alone with Sab/Kat? Maybe Kim/Chel/Alicia are away at that specific time, but that seems a little bit too coincidental. Or, maybe the reward is later, so they wash off, and then the three girls go on their reward. It would explain Kim's smile if she won. And Kat would be mad if Kim didn't choose her to go.

We do know something about the reward: PICNIC VACATION

The word vacation tells us they are transported somewhere. Sometimes they do it right after challenge, other times it's a later pickup. Whatever it is, I think they are gone for a substantial amount of time. The producers want the losers to have time to shake up their alliances.

Correct, because if he had won, he wouldn't be in the shelter talking to Sabrina and Kat.

Kat, Sabrina, Christina, Troy, Tarzan -- in camp during reward having powwow (per press release on what happens while reward is enjoyed).

Alicia, Kim, Chelsea -- go on reward.

The press release doesn't specifically say it is all one challenge. but if you let the second sentence stand alone, there is no referent for what was won.

Look at the syntax of sentence 2, if you take away sentence one that mentions the challenge and propose that sentence two refers to a different challenge, it makes no sense.

Breaking the release into its two sentences for analysis:

#1 Castaways oil themselves up for a wet and wild immunity challenge.

#2 While the lucky winners enjoy a picnic vacation, Tikiano’s sore losers strike at the chance to powwow at camp, and feelings of alienation drive leery tribe members to seek out all of their elimination options

Winners enjoy, losers powwow -- but winners and losers of what exactly? Isn't it natural to read it as winners/losers of the challenge mentioned in #1?

The only way Sentence #2 makes sense is if it refers back to the first line about the immunity challenge, which would mean there is only one challenge being discussed here.

That does not explain:

The need to have only one challenge for this cycle, when there is no need for it.

The ability of the producers to fill an hours worth of time when the boot is 'back of the hand' obvious IF Troy loses.

Most importantly why is greasy Kim in camp? She should be on reward if it's combined...unless she is in camp after the singular IC and she had went away on a separate reward challenge held earlier in the 3 day cycle.

If the IC/RC are the same and Kim wins, how are 25 minutes of Kat gonna be enough to fill the show? It's not. Clearly Troy is going if he loses, so the 25 minutes of fake strategizing would be pointless.
Either:
A. RC/IC are not combined, meaning anyone could win IC.
B. Kim/Chel/Alicia wins IC, and the 25 mins. of strategy/Kat's freak out are shown because it WORKS and we get a female blindside
C. Kim/Chel/Alicia wins IC, and the 25 mins. of strategy/Kat's freak out are shown for nothing (I really doubt it's this; ten minutes is fine such as last week or the Jay boot, but 25 wasted minutes? That's a bit extreme).

Well, my personal bias is I would like to see two challenges, so I completely want you guys to be right. I just don't see much hope.

I agree they don't need to do a short cycle and the hour will need filler. Re that: this could be a long reward with a big segment, including perhaps helicopter ride.

The helo ride and big reward idea could explain why they go back to camp. Because they are getting picked up the next morning for an all day excursion.

Sometimes they do things in the schedule that simply relate to a day off for the challenge crew. (Which has to run both a rehearsal and the actual challenge.) We saw that in the RI call sheets.

They may be using the press release as misdirection, but almost always the sentences in the release go in chronological order of the episode events, so not sure why they would reverse them this time.

Re the smile: if Kim is winner or chosen one, she would want to keep the mood pleasant and could be trying to lighten things up.
She would not smile constantly simply because she won. Kim knows better than to do that; it would be viewed negatively.

They have done the type of thing OFG refers to in the past. A very, very long time ago. Not so long ago they did indiv RC where the winners chose the tag alongs. Even in the long ago past they put the winner on the spot. Kat should know she's not going on reward. ...yet apparently she waits until layer to break down, and even later to confront Kim. Why?

Enumerable times the web monkeys wording makes sense only in retrospect and back-back many times sentences refer to dissimilar things.

...It will be fun to find out what occurs...I really don't know.

OK, I am now seeing some evidence against the spec I just did.

In the VO, Probst says:

Probst: "Only guarantee you see tomorrow is to have Immunity tonight."

They are going to TC the night of the slip and slide.

If there is a reward, it is only going to be the afternoon, so they should go directly from the challenge area.

Also, if it is one challenge, at most it is a two day cycle.

but croc, it has not been ages since they got picked up in camp for a reward. I'm not recalling one right this second, but it's not back to the old days.

Also, the blurbs are sloppy a lot of the time, but normally they are in chronological order.

Maybe my memory is too poor to recall OFG ;). Agreed the clues tend to be chronological. I don't see the ep fitting the time here with a combo. This is not the first time this iteration has not 'seemed right' from all the clues.

...It's hard for me to take up for Troy since I think the guy is a jerk. A lot of me would just prefer it get down to Old Salani infeeding

^Troy tweeted something about Kim not always being able to have enough time to get all on same page heading to Tribal a week or two ago after she did have just enough time to keep the Mike boot clean (and commented about as much).

Could we potentially see a reward challenge that takes the winners away until tribal - potentially delivering them at tribal or right as they leave for the solitary walk to tribal?

Slip and Slide is reward and immunity, but the reward takes the winner and two others to a picnic but they're taken away from the island until tribal - leaving the five back to conspire.

well that tells me 2 challenges then probably the other one is a boring quiz we have not had that yet, go on reward next day have slip and slide clean up go to tc. i would say kims smile at clean up could mean she wins, but she smiles alot even when pissed off, i think she has loony toons running in her head.

I just reviewed all ten of the prior press releases for this season, and they are all written in chronological order.

The title is the highlight, so that is not in order, but the part that forms the body of the release always follows the actual sequence of events. Ten examples to date this season.

So here is the body of this press release:

"Never Say Die" —

Sequence described:

My take is that the blurb writer screens a copy of the episode and then writes the release, perhaps taking notes of what strikes him/her would be worth mentioning. Each of those clauses covers an actual segment of the broadcast, perhaps broken up by commercials.

I realize I am more prone to put emphasis on the form of a narrative than others here might be, as I am coming from a background of studying/teaching literature, and such things jump out at me. Still, that is the sequence of the press release, and it flows plausibly. Now if there is a reward challenge at the beginning, clause #1 should be switched to position #3, and clauses #2 and #3 refer to the aftermath of an RC that is not mentioned.

It should be: While the lucky winners of the reward challenge enjoy ... then it would make sense, but it would still be atypically out of sequence.

Ooh, I like that idea. I saw that tweet. Now the question is why are they all oily on the beach ... when are they oily in the caps we have?

What we do have that must be pre TC is Kat fighting with Kim. How is the light? Does it look late in the afternoon?

btw, I know the video sequences are all mixed up in the promos. I am only talking about Press Releases. These are done by different people with different mindsets. The visual people tell a story one way, and love misdirection. The Press Release writer has a different approach.

PS. I suck for not posting all this in the Solving Riddles topic. I was replying to posts here on one or two challenges, but this should have been in Riddles.

I don't know ,Troy has been complaining about production on twitter a lot as well as his edit,I think in that tweet he was trying to imply rigging/production helping her out.I certainly don't think that,but I think that's what he meant.

The only way I see Troy surviving this is if Kim splits the vote to cover an HII again.

Kat is the only one Troy kind of likes, not Kim, Chelsea, Sabrina. (per his tweets about them)

I don't think Troy gets Sabrina.

If Kim breaks it up and tries to do a split, she has to throw equal or more votes at Tarzan, doesn't she? If the idol is played, there must be enough alt votes to counter or tie votes against Kim.

Ideally, 3 votes for Tarzan, 4 for Troy, but what if she gets 3 votes, or 4? She doesn't have enough trusted soldiers maybe for a safe split?
