Yes, I did contact the parent of that child, and yes, he wasn't very happy about what had happened. I also fowarded a screen capture of the post in case he wished to use it as proof if he wanted to pursue this matter further through legal channels.

Obviously, you didn't do this with malicious intent, but when you take the time to Google someone's photo to be erroneously used in one of your posts, try taking the time to be absolutely sure it cannot be used to garner real life info on that person. Better yet, avoid doing this again at all costs to save yourself any future troubles.

I've seen many heinous crimes during my career, and have investigated and arrested internet stalkers who have targeted young children in chat rooms and message boards. You wouldn't want someone to supply the means to find your child if you have one, so keep this in mind. It doesn't matter whether you found this photo on an open website or not, you didn't have the right or permission to use it.
