He dressed as Jackson because he is a fan. But come on, really? Imitating a black person is off limits? I understand true black face, charcoal with big white lips, being RACIST RACIST RACIST. But purely imitating a person with a shade darker complexion than you is racist as well? Is Billy Crystal racist for imitating Sammy Davis Jr? I think it's actually a pretty dam good costume. Not a racial caricature in any way.

To be racist it has to have a negative or sinister connotation. Being tasteless or a bad imitation isn't racist. For example, Andrea Martin's imitation of Indira Ghandi on SCTV. Over the top like all imitations of famous people, but in no way racist. Same with Billy Crystal's Sammy Davis Jr. Over the top caricature of a specific person, not a knock on a specific race.
